Lesson 6 of 6

Who is being recommended in your category, and by which engine?

A score on its own has no scale. Knowing you were named in some share of answers tells you nothing until you know what the companies beside you scored on the same questions, in the same runs, on the same day. Engines also disagree with each other more than people expect, so a company can be strong on one assistant and absent from another, and an average across engines hides exactly the thing worth acting on.

Do this on your own site

This one reads the report the free check produces.

The same report ranks every brand named in your basket, and breaks the result down by engine so you can see where the disagreement is.

Read your leaderboard

Reading the result

Including what it does not tell you, which is the half most readings get wrong.

Compare ranges rather than positions. Where two brands' intervals overlap they are level, whatever order the table puts them in, and a table that ranks them anyway is showing you precision it does not have. Being named more often is also not evidence that anyone was chosen: it measures what assistants say, which is upstream of what buyers do.

Terms used in this lesson

Each one is defined in full in the glossary, with the reason it matters to measurement.

That is all six checks

You have now read every check this site performs and run each one on your own domain. If you want the same six repeated on a schedule with an alert when a number moves further than your domain drifts on its own, that is what the tracker does. If you would rather have the work done, the services page prices each fix separately.
