Lesson 4 of 6

When a buyer asks an assistant, does your name come up?

The first three checks are properties of your site and you can read them yourself at any time. This one is a property of the answers, and the only way to know it is to ask the engines the questions your buyers ask and count. Asking once tells you very little, because the same question asked twice does not return the same answer, so the count only means something across repeated runs of a fixed set of questions.

Do this on your own site

This one reads the report the free check produces.

Enter your domain. It asks a fixed basket of buying questions across several engines, runs each question more than once, and reports how often you were named.

Reading the result

Including what it does not tell you, which is the half most readings get wrong.

Read the interval, not the number. Every score here is published with the range it is accurate to across re-runs, and a score without one cannot be checked or argued with. If two figures have overlapping ranges, the difference between them is not yet a difference you can act on, and treating it as one is how people spend money chasing sampling noise.

Terms used in this lesson

Each one is defined in full in the glossary, with the reason it matters to measurement.
