Which pages did the engine actually read to answer?
An assistant assembles an answer out of sources it retrieved, and those sources are mostly not the vendor's own site. They are review platforms, roundups, comparison pages and publishers. This is the mechanism most people miss: the fight is over being present in the documents the engine pulls, which is a different job from improving the pages you own.

Do this on your own site
This one reads the report the free check produces.
The report from the previous lesson lists every source the engines cited, split into the ones that already mention you and the ones that do not.
Read your report's sourcesReading the result
Including what it does not tell you, which is the half most readings get wrong.
The second list is the useful one, and it is a list of opportunities rather than a list of failures. Being cited as a source is not the same as being recommended: an engine can footnote your site while naming somebody else, and the buyer reading that answer never sees your name. Those are tracked separately here for that reason.
Terms used in this lesson
Each one is defined in full in the glossary, with the reason it matters to measurement.
Next: Who they named instead
Who is being recommended in your category, and by which engine?
