What is prompt volume?
Prompt volume is an estimate of how often real users ask an assistant a given question, the AI-search analogue of keyword search volume.
It is the hardest number in this category to obtain honestly. Search volume is inferable from clickstream and from Google's own tooling; prompt volume is not, because conversations are private and no engine publishes them. Vendors claiming it are modelling from panels, from their own customers' baskets, or from proxy data, and the methodology usually goes unstated.
The practical stance: treat published prompt volumes as directional rather than measured, and ask what population the estimate came from. A number without that is a guess with a decimal point.
