What is sameAs in schema.org?

sameAs is a schema.org property listing other URLs that represent the same entity, such as a company's LinkedIn, GitHub or Crunchbase profiles.

It is the mechanism that tells an engine a website, a social profile and a database entry are one company rather than several. Without it, mentions scattered across sources can read as several weakly-known entities instead of one better-known one.

The entries that carry the most weight are the ones where the link runs both ways, because a profile that lists your domain back is independent corroboration rather than a claim you made about yourself. Only ever list profiles you actually control: a sameAs pointing somewhere that is not yours is a false identity claim in machine-readable form.
