What is a comparison page?
A comparison page evaluates two or more options against each other on a defined set of criteria, usually built around an X versus Y search.
The format itself does a lot of work: options are laid out side by side against explicit criteria, price, features, use case, so a reader can see the tradeoffs at a glance instead of piecing them together from separate reviews.
That same structure is disproportionately useful to AI answer engines. A model summarizing several individual review pages has to synthesize a verdict itself, with all the risk of misreading or flattening nuance that involves. A comparison page has often already done that work, which makes it easier to extract and cite cleanly.
The common failure is a page that lays out every criterion but never actually commits to an answer, hedging everything to "it depends." That buries the one part worth citing. A model summarizing a page like that either flattens it to a shrug or skips it in favour of a competitor's page that states a plain recommendation.
