What is agentic commerce?

Instead of an answer engine simply pointing a person toward a product page, the agent itself carries out the steps: comparing a few options, picking one, and completing the transaction, with the person approving the purchase rather than performing each step of it.

This is worth watching closely because it's the sharpest version yet of what zero-click already describes. In an ordinary zero-click search, a person still at least reads an answer without visiting a site. In agentic commerce, revenue can arrive without the merchant's page ever being loaded by a human at all: the agent completes the purchase directly with the merchant's checkout system, not through a page rendered in someone's browser. That breaks the usual way a site would notice a sale happened, since pageview counts and conversion pixels both assume a human loaded the page, and neither one fires when an agent transacts directly.
