What is agency white-label?

Agency white-label is an arrangement where an agency sells a service, like AI visibility tracking, under its own brand while a separate vendor actually builds and runs the underlying tool.

It is a common structure in marketing services generally: the agency keeps the client relationship and the brand the client sees, while the technical product underneath, the crawler, the scoring methodology, the dashboard, belongs to someone else entirely. Clients often have no idea the tool they are looking at was not built by the agency presenting it.

The risk specific to this space is that AI visibility numbers already come with real uncertainty, from things like sampling variance and confidence bands, that need some methodological explanation to interpret responsibly. An agency reselling a white-labeled tool it did not build is not always in a position to answer questions about how those numbers were produced, which leaves the client's trust in the metrics resting on a vendor relationship the agency itself does not fully control.
